Overview

The SA Password Manager self-service portal allows you to change your zID_sa password for the production environment only.

Important: SA account holders must always change their password after receiving a temporary password from the UNSW IT Service Centre.

Self help guides

  • You can change your zID_sa password, for the production environment, at any time using the SA Password Manager self-service portal.

Do not make your SA password the same as your zID password. This will ensure that if one password is compromised, your other account is not vulnerable.

To create a new password, you will need your zID_sa details and current (unexpired) password.

    1. Click the link to SA Password Manager (on this page).
    2. Use your zID account, log in, and authenticate when prompted.
    3. Within the portal, use the Change your password service, and then:
      • Enter your ADUNSW\zID_sa account details.
      • Enter your current password (or a temporary password issued by the IT Service Centre).
      • Create a new password that meets the password conditions.
    4. Click Submit.

UNSW requires you to change your password:

    • Immediately after receiving a temporary password from the IT Service Centre.
    • A minimum of once every 12 months to optimise your SA account security. Keep an eye out for the email Change your zID_sa password before it expires.
    1. Open your browser and search for My Apps (myapps.microsoft.com).
    2. In the Apps Dashboard search for SA Password Manager and select it.
    3. Use your zID account to log in and authenticate when prompted.

Once within the portal, use the Change your password option:

    1. Enter your ADUNSW\zID_sa details and current (or temporary) password.
    2. Create a new password that meets the conditions.
    3. Click Submit.
  • If you have forgotten your password or locked your zID_sa account, please contact the UNSW IT Service Centre for assistance.

If your zID_sa password has expired but you know it, please use the SA Password Manager self-service portal to change your password.

Please note: If you receive the following message, it indicates that you do not have an SA account. Contact the IT Service Centre if you feel this is an error.

  • When you change your password using SA Password Manager, please remember to update your password on other devices used.

If you don't make this update, then when your device authenticates to UNSW AD, the password will not match and it will fail. This will repeat 10 times until your account is locked.
