UNSW and OpenAI Collaboration
UNSW IT (Sydney) is excited to announce a collaboration with OpenAI, making UNSW the first university in the Asia-Pacific region to adopt ChatGPT Education (Edu). UNSW joins the likes of Oxford, Columbia and Arizona State universities, as well as the London Business School to bring the Higher Education version of the OpenAI technology to campus.
The collaboration builds on UNSW’s existing work to embed beneficial, safe and ethical use of AI in teaching, research and administration.
Throughout 2024 UNSW embarked on an exciting program to test and trial generative AI. This program has focused on testing many new large language models (LLMs) that have come to market. We have drawn on working groups and experts from across the University, including AI researchers, UNSW’s AI Institute, Academic innovators, students and members of our professional staff to participate in these pilots.
Hear from our Chief Information Officer, Dr Chrissy Burns, in her recent interview with ABC Radio about this fantastic collaboration and opportunity: Australian uni signs education agreement with AI company (3 minute audio file).
