Financial assistance and support to help you succeed

Discover a range of financial support for students in Australia, whether you’re enrolled as a domestic or international student, or you plan on studying overseas. 

Get help with basic budgeting

Student Support Advisors provide students with practical advice and skills to assist with basic budgeting.

Financial support for learning abroad

If you are planning to undertake a Learning Abroad program, financial support may be available to help fund your experience.

  • If you receive Youth Allowance, you can usually arrange to have your payments continue while overseas. You must notify Centrelink before leaving Australia otherwise payments may be stopped.

  • OS-HELP is a loan scheme provided by the Australian Government to assist with financial costs for Exchange or a Short Course taken overseas. It’s available to eligible Australian students enrolled in a Commonwealth Supported Place who want to undertake some of their study overseas. OS-HELP can be used for a range of expenses such as airfares, accommodation and other travel or study expenses.

If you are experiencing immediate financial hardship, you may be eligible for a Financial hardship grant.

Student loans

UNSW offers interest-free repayable loans to currently enrolled domestic and international students of up to $1500.
