If you gain entry into a program at UNSW, you may be eligible for credit for courses (subjects) studied at another institution. To be awarded these credits, UNSW would need to assess the courses or combination of courses as equivalent to UNSW courses. Credit transfer is also known as 'advanced standing'.
This pathway is for students with an AQF accredited TAFE Diploma or Advanced Diploma, potentially allowing credit through Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) to reduce the time needed to complete a degree at UNSW. Our accepted qualifications page, opens in a new window includes a list of diplomas and advanced diplomas that enable articulaton into an undergraduate degree at UNSW.
The Australian Defence Force Transition and Civil Recognition program (ADFTCR), opens in a new window helps you have your military skills recognised through a process called Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL). This allows your skills to be validated against nationally accredited standards, potentially earning you a full qualification, or a Statement of Attainment that you can take to a different Registered Training Organisation (RTO) for partial recognition towards a qualification that is outside of the Defence RTO’s scope of offering. The program also offers micro-credentials to validate specific skills that are outside your primary Defence role, enhancing your resume and employability in the civilian job market.
This program is an invaluable resource for veterans looking to smoothly transition into civilian careers, ensuring that the skills they developed during their service are recognised and valued in the civilian workforce.
The program is available to all ADF members who are transitioning from military service. This includes both permanent and reserve members. Importantly, the support and recognition provided by the program are accessible not only to those currently transitioning but also to those who have already transitioned within the last 24 months.
The program can be accessed during your transition and for up to 24 months after you have separated from the ADF. This window gives veterans ample time to take advantage of the services offered, including skill recognition and the conversion of military experience into civilian qualifications.
