Getting started at UNSW
To help you get started at UNSW, any questions or concerns you may have about accepting your offer or enrolling into your courses you can contact The Nucleus Student Hub, opens in a new window in Sydney or City Central in Canberra, opens in a new window. These should always be your first point of contact if you are unsure about something to do with your degree. They will be able to direct you to the most appropriate service to answer your specific enquiry. You can submit an enquiry online, call them or visit in person.
Health and wellbeing support
At UNSW we understand that sometimes it’s difficult to balance life and university demands. It’s ok to ask for help, the below support services are available to assist with navigating those pressures and getting back on track.
Psychology and Wellness are a team of qualified psychologists and Mental Health professionals who provide confidential short – term counselling. UNSW also has an After-Hours Mental Health Support Line 5:00pm-9:00am Monday to Friday and 24 hours on Weekends and Public Holidays: 9385 5418 or Text 0485 826 595.
Student Support, opens in a new window offers a personalised, student-centred experience to enhance academic and personal wellbeing. We can help you with matters relating to study / life habits and skills, university procedures, financial hardship, accommodation-related concerns, and we can link you into other services.

UNSW Fitness and Aquatic Centre
(Kensington campus)
The home of UNSW fitness, health and wellbeing. If you’re living in Sydney and looking to work out in the gym, swim some laps, join a group fitness class, or get active with friends – UNSW Fitness & Aquatic Centre’s on the Kensington campus is the number one health and wellbeing destination to help you achieve your goals. The centre is open as follows:
Monday – Friday: 6.00am – 10.00pm.
Saturday – Sunday: 7.00am – 7.00pm.
Public Holidays: 7.00am – 7.00pm.
The facility is comprised with world class weight rooms (covering all your lifting needs), cardio rooms (you’ll always be able to get your sweat on) and a wellness studio. Our facility also offers members 1 on 1 training with our highly professional personal trainers, or group fitness classes that will take your workouts to the next level! The centre also houses an an olympic sized pool with accessibility lift as well as a basketball stadium, squash and badminton courts.
Exercise physiology is available too. You don’t need a referral to see an exercise physiologist for private sessions. However if you plan to claim rebates through Medicare or the Department of Veteran Affairs (DVA), a doctor’s referral may be required. You’re able to book an appointment directly. UNSW Canberra’s indoor sports centre
UNSW Canberra has a state-of-the-art indoor sports facility, opens in a new window that includes a gym, indoor sports fields, and a heated indoor swimming pool. Available sports facilities include squash, basketball and tennis courts.
UNSW Dentist
UNSW Dentist, located on Kensington campus in the Quadrangle Building, middle campus, provides the UNSW staff, students and visitors with dental services. Open weekdays 9am –5pm.
