Generally speaking, co-curricular activities are an extension of the formal learning experiences that a student has been exposed to in a course or academic program. These experiences are designed to further enhance learning and compliment the program or course curriculum. UNSW Employability offers the following support and options to further enhance student learning.

  • UNSW Employability has developed the following online modules that can be embedded into your course:

    • Resumes and cover letters
    • Preparing for and attending interviews

    We are continually developing new online content and will publish new modules when available on this page.

  • The Employability team are able to work with you to deliver sessions in class to support your course learning outcomes. Examples of sessions delivered in the past include:

    • Introduction to career planning
    • Personal branding and professional identity
    • Online and in person networking
    • Resumes, cover letters and addressing selection criteria
    • Preparing for job interviews
    • Sourcing internships and work integrated learning opportunities

Best practice examples

  • The Faculty of Engineering offers online training modules to over 4,000 students each year to prepare them for finding industrial training. The module was developed by UNSW Employability and covers topics including career planning, networking, writing a successful job application and interview skills. This compulsory online training is them complimented by a face to face panel session with speakers from industry providing further advice and support to student to find and complete their industrial training. The panel is organised and facilitated by the Employability team in close collaboration with the Faculty of Engineering.

  • Partnering with the Faculty of Law, UNSW Employability have delivered short resume and cover letter seminars to all students applying for summer clerkship opportunities. These sessions were open to all Law students and delivered multiple times to maximise students opportunities to gain support to complete their applications.
