Abstract

In this presentation, I will talk about perception of risk in mobility systems and the role it plays on choice. As well as its implication on trust in new mobility technologies, acceptability of policies and routine mobility choices individuals make.  The presentation introduces some key theoretical results, as well as empirical findings from the field as well as virtual reality driving studies. I argue that understanding perceptions can help us make policy decisions around when information provision is not enough, and there is a need for education. I also argue that virtual reality experiments provide significant value in understanding behaviour in hypothetical scenarios.
