Confidential Paper Waste Collection
About the service
Estate Management provides a confidential paper waste collection and disposal service. You can also dispose of small quantities of electronic storage items in confidential paper waste bins (eg. CDs, floppy disks, USB sticks). However, please keep it less than 10% of the total bin capacity.
Confidential waste services are only completed via ARCHIBUS, opens in a new window.
Confidential waste is collected on Thursdays only – please ensure your secure area is accessible. If overall campus confidential waste volumes are low, collection may be postponed until the following week.
Please do not submit a request for confidential waste collection until your bin is full.
After the confidential paper waste has been destroyed, a Certificate of Destruction can be supplied. NB: The certificate is for the total daily load of confidential paper waste (not individual collections made on the day).
Keeping your confidential waste secure
To ensure your confidential waste remains secure, please remove the key from the bin's lock.
Keep your bins in a secured location – bins left in hallways and other high-traffic areas are at risk of being wheeled away and 'cracked' open.
Running out of space?
Confidential waste may also be placed in the regular blue paper waste bins, boxes, or bags. It must be clearly labelled as 'Confidential' and placed in a secure location until collection.
Shredded documents do not need to be disposed of in confidential waste bins. You can place shredded paper into regular paper recycling bins, if space in your confidential bin is at a premium.
Casual non lockable bins (use for one week) can be supplied for one-off office clean-ups. Requests via Archibus.
How can I access the confidential waste service?
Requests for lockable bins and confidential paper waste servicing should be placed through ARCHIBUS, opens in a new window > Problem type: Confidential Waste Destruction.
Permanent lockable confidential waste bins are available ($75 per 120L bin or $110 per 240L bin).
The ongoing collection and disposal service is free for UNSW staff. For all other entities, a service fee will be charged for each request.
