Matter overview

The plaintiff slipped and fell in a semi-outdoor shopping arcade. Representing the defendant, our client required an assessment of the tile flooring’s suitability for the area.

Expert retained

A Fellow of the Royal Australian Institute of Architects and former solicitor with extensive legal experience was engaged as an expert witness. As a member of Standards Australia’s Subcommittee BD/94 ‘Slip Resistance,’ they had worked on numerous cases assessing pedestrian surfaces, products, and treatments for compliance with national Standards.

Expert's role

The expert conducted a slip resistance test on-site, provided a verbal opinion to the client on the findings, and later prepared a detailed written report to support the assessment.
