Matter overview

The plaintiff sustained an injury while descending a slide when a limb became caught on the equipment. Representing the plaintiff, our client sought expert insight into playground compliance, relevant safety standards, and the liability of the party responsible for maintenance and oversight.

Expert retained

Unisearch engaged an Adjunct Senior Research Fellow from UNSW’s Faculty of Medicine and Health with links to Mechanical Engineering. The expert held industry and government roles in injury prevention, served on Standards Australia committees for playground and trampoline safety, and was a member of the Australian Injury Prevention Network.

Expert's role

The expert reviewed extensive materials, including playground safety standards, design drawings, plans, and witness statements. Their report analysed the factors contributing to the injury and outlined measures that could have improved oversight and prevented similar incidents.
