Matter overview

Our client represented a contractor hired to work on a public building. During a storm, scaffolding from the site collapsed onto a neighbouring property, leading to a damage claim. It was alleged that the scaffolding design was defective and non-compliant with Australian Standards at the time.

Expert retained

Unisearch engaged a UNSW-affiliated civil engineer with over 35 years of experience in major projects, including high-rise buildings, cranes, construction, scaffolding, and risk management across Australia.

Expert's role

The expert reviewed the other expert’s report, assessing the safety measures taken to secure the scaffolding before the storm and evaluating the design’s suitability for the weather conditions. They also examined compliance with relevant Standards, reviewed design drawings, photos, and statements, and identified key contributing factors in the incident.
