Lucy Parkinson, 'I don’t think I actually like painting' 2024. Oil paint and oil pastel on paper. 168 x 59cm.

My body of work I don’t think I actually like painting comprises a series of mixed media artworks that explore elements of my painting methodology and examine the internal monologue that informs how and why I make art. Conflicting feelings of disappointment, pride, laziness, self-importance and boredom clash in these pieces to provide an honest insight into my confusing and often overwhelming experience as a painter.
