For this work I focused on the medium of digital art and chose to project it onto the ground of a large environment to facilitate an interactive space. I also chose to focus on the concept of eco-brutalism in a way that explores the relationship between modern technology, man-made objects and the natural world. For the sake of the environmental concept, I also did not go out to buy any new materials, only using objects and sculptures that I already had at home. I aim to encourage interaction with this installation and have been curious to see this work projected on myself and my audience as we immerse ourselves in it. The physical space of this body of work is beyond what I was previously used to - it's given me a chance to expand my work into the biggest scale it's ever been, and it allowed me to consider the creation of a physical environment as something that can be appreciated not only by other artists, but also by younger curious audiences who are often left out and may feel restricted in traditional gallery or studio spaces.
As a young queer Australian artist, my work is informed by my ever changing personal experiences and sense of identity. Through my use of acrylic painting and digital art, I love exploring themes of femininity, religious symbolism, and my surrounding environment - often alluding to the political but hiding it behind a veil which I invite the audience to draw back themselves. My work is characterised by a flowing, organic quality, with each piece representing a unique expression of my innermost thoughts and feelings. My more recent artistic evolution in experimenting with digital mediums and animation has allowed me to further explore the fluidity and movement inherent in my work. I am inspired by the way that it can bring my paintings to life and create an immersive experience for the viewer. Ultimately, my goal as an artist is to create work that is both deeply personal and relatable to those I share a community with. I hope that my art can serve as a means of connection and understanding, both for myself and for others who may see themselves reflected in my work.
