ARTIST STATEMENT

‘The Way Out’ is a short animation based on the true stories of life in post war Vietnam and is set around the Vietnamese boat refugees of the late 70s and early 80s. The story covers the struggles of post war life and highlights the bond of family through a prison break.  The animation is a frame-by-frame rotoscope animation drawn in Photoshop and composed in After Effects and Premiere Pro. The animation style was inspired by the animations from the 60s to 80s and was chosen to fit the era of the story.
