About
Australia is bidding to host the 38th International Geological Congress in Melbourne in 2028. The Secretary General (designate) of the IGC2028 Melbourne bid is former President of the UNSW Academic Board, Emeritus Professor David Cohen, who said “the IGC is the longest running scientific meeting in the world, with the first IGC in 1878”. He added “We hope to get at least 6,000 geoscientists attending the IGC and UNSW is well-represented on the provisional organising committee”. A decision on the host city will be taken at the 37th IGC in Busan, Korea, in August.
