UNSW Sydney’s Law degree is among the world’s top 35 university law courses, according to the Times Higher Education’s (THE) latest subject rankings.
This is the first time the UK-based THE has ranked the top 100 universities for law degrees, with UNSW Law placing 31st.
Previously, THE included law under the banner of Social Sciences, which also included Communication & Media Studies, Education, Politics & International Studies, Sociology, Psychology and Geography.
Education is now also ranked separately and UNSW placed at 62.
THE tables are based on the same 13 performance indicators used in the overall World University Rankings 2018. However, the methodology is carefully recalibrated for each subject, with the weightings changed to suit the individual fields.
Across all subjects, UNSW remains one of the world’s top universities, despite fierce competition from Chinese institutions, according to THE.
UNSW is ranked 85 out of 1000 universities around the world for 2017-2018, and is one of six Australian universities that feature in the prestigious top 100.
