Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)
Universities are crucial to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) globally. Our unique position as creators and disseminators of knowledge and as key drivers of innovation, economic development, and societal wellbeing puts us in a position to lead and effect change. With a proud history as a trailblazer in issues of social justice and social impact since its establishment, UNSW has been strengthening its commitment to the SDGs and to furthering our ambitions and efforts.
Accompanying Change and Progress in the Asia Pacific
In June 2024, we debuted our updated SDG publication at the Times Higher Education Global Sustainable Development Congress in Bangkok.
The publication details the University's efforts towards strengthening commitment to the SDGs, and UNSW's impact on advancing developmental challenges and disruptions in the Asia Pacific region through dedicated institutes and in collaboration with strategic partners.
The Accompanying Change and Progress in the Asia Pacific brochure provides examples of UNSW’s impact on society through:
- Thought leadership, innovation and engagement;
- Knowledge exchange and academic excellence; and
- Research quality.
In particular, UNSW’s global reputation as one of Australia’s leading research universities is a key reason for its enduring partnerships with industry, government, and the United Nations in the service of pressing developmental challenges and disruptions of the twenty-first century.
