A recognised bachelor degree from an Australian university or equivalent overseas institution.

Students who have completed the Graduate Certificate in Economics (7412) with a minimum WAM of 65% can apply to articulate into the Master of Applied Economics program and will receive 24 Units of Credit (UOC) of Advanced Standing.

English language requirements

 

You may be asked to provide evidence of your English proficiency to study at UNSW depending on your educational background and citizenship. English language skills are vitally important for coping with lectures, tutorials, assignments and examinations - this is why UNSW requires a minimum English language competency for enrolment.

If you’re completing an Australian Year 12 qualification (e.g. NSW HSC or equivalent), you do not need to provide anything extra to prove your proficiency. Your qualification will be used as evidence of your English proficiency.

If you do need to provide evidence of your English proficiency, this will be indicated in your application. You can prove this by providing evidence that you meet one or more of the following criteria:

Program structure

You’ll develop your specialisation with three compulsory courses, in microeconomics, quantitative analysis and econometrics. You will be able to adapt your studies according to your career goals or interests within these compulsory courses and with one elective course.

The elective courses cover topics that span finance and politics. Just some of the options include superannuation and retirement, international trade theory and policy, behavioural economics, and economic growth, technology and structural change.
