Dr Ziyang Lyu
Dr. Ziyang Lyu is a Lecturer (tenure track assistant professor) in Statistics at the School of Mathematics and Statistics. Before that, he completed his Ph.D. in Statistics at the Australian National University in 2020. He worked as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the University of Queensland from 2020 to 2021 and at the University of New South Wales from 2021 to 2024.
His research focuses on asymptotic analysis, mixed models—particularly with crossed random effects, small area estimations, and finite Gaussian mixture models. He also has a keen interest in statistical methodology for extreme value theory and machine learning, with a focus on semi-supervised learning for pattern recognition.
