The research will explore how NOS in a typical old area of Qingdao has been refurbished and then employ multiple methods to investigate usage patterns, experiences and perceptions of people (especially senior residents) in different kinds of re-designed NOS. Then positive and negative re-design attributes, the probable mechanism and a better way to re-design the NOS in old urban areas will be discussed.
