Professor Vinayak Dixit is the Director of Global Research and Innovation, through which he is managing UNSW's Global Research and Impact Project seed grants, and the landing pad awards for UNSW startups to grow global. He is a Professor of Transport Systems in the School of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of New South Wales (UNSW). His research has focused on developing and implanting new technologies into transport systems ranging from connected automated vehicles, electric vehicles, and use of quantum technologies in transportation systems. He has worked extensively with major global industries including Google, IAG, Ford, DWAVE (quantum computing), GoGet and Delhivery, to name a few. These works have led to embedding novel optimization and control algorithms being implemented. His research has been funded by the Australian Research Council, United States National Science Foundation, as well as agencies globally including Australia, U.S., Indonesia, India and U.A.E. He has published over 230 peer-reviewed papers and has two patents, one on traffic signal optimization and another on quantum-enabled vehicle control. His expertise in AVs and Electric vehicles has been recognized in Parliamentary Inquiries that would inform legislation on new vehicle technologies.
