Professor Shawn Kook
Professor Kook directs the UNSW Engine Research Laboratory where new powertrain technologies for carbon neutral fuel combustion are experimentally investigated for various applications. These include new diesel compression-ignition (CI) and petrol spark-ignition (SI) engines developed for high efficiency and low air-polluting emissions and co-operation with other means of power generation such as gasoline-electric hybrids. His carbon neutral fuel research includes hydrogen, ethanol, methanol, jet fuel, biodiesel and any fuels produced from renewable sources. Please find more about his research from the Engine Research Laboratory website. For accelerated commercialisation of new technologies, he has founded DeCarice Pty Ltd, a UNSW spinout company where he is a co-founder and chief technology officer.
