Advanced Combustion Diagnostics Laboratory

I am an Associate Professor at the University of New South Wales and a 2023 CSIRO International Hydrogen Research Program Mid-Career Fellow. My research encompasses three primary areas:
- Optical and laser-based imaging diagnostics for high-pressure, high-temperature engine environments;
- Technical, economic, and environmental analysis of energy systems; and
- Fire safety.
My research has contributed to significant advancements in:
- Integrating hydrogen into existing combustion systems for cleaner, more efficient, and reliable combustion;
- Demonstrating the economic and technical feasibility of hydrogen-fueled power generation integrated with solar farms for baseload renewable energy;
- Quantifying the economic impact of transportation emissions in Australia; and
- Redefining fire evacuation practices through improved detection and modeling.
I have secured approximately $22 million in external research funding, serving as principal investigator for projects totaling $2.49 million, and have established collaborations with both domestic and international academic and industry partners.
