Dr Manreena Kaur

Dr Manreena Kaur BSc (Hons) PhD is a Research Fellow at Neuroscience Research Australia and, Adjunct Research Fellow at UNSW and Monash University. Manreena’s research focus is on advancing non-invasive brain stimulation treatments for mood and psychotic disorders, particularly as personalised and early intervention approaches. Her research incorporates methods such as repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS), transcranial alternating current stimulation, psychophysiology (tACS), neuropsychology and neuroimaging.

Manreena completed her PhD at the Brain and Mind Centre, University of Sydney in 2014 on the clinical and functional significance of neurophysiological biomarkers of schizophrenia for early stage mood- and psychotic disorders. Since then, Manreena gained several years’ experience in therapeutic brain stimulation. Through a Society of Mental Health-Medibank Early Career Award in 2015, Manreena set up a TMS research program and clinical service at St Vincent’s Private Hospital for depression in youth. She then undertook her NHMRC Peter Doherty Early Career Fellowship (2016-2020) training in therapeutic brain stimulation for mood- and psychotic disorders at the Epworth Centre for Innovation in Mental Health, Monash University and Epworth Healthcare, Melbourne.
