PhD Research Project

Research Project title: Development of High Performance Nanocomposite Bio-catalytic Membranes: Fabrication and Micropollutant removal

The aims of this project are to

  1. Develop innovative nanostructured coating and functionalization using blending or sol-gel approaches to fabricate novel nanocomposite membranes with polymeric substrates, tunable surface architecture, and hydrophilicity.
  2. Understand laccase-BPA degradation mechanisms and immobilize laccase onto functionalized support.
  3. Optimize biocatalytic activity and stability of functionalized membrane to enhance the removal of micropollutants based on new knowledge of removal mechanisms of bio-catalytic surfaces
