Dr Inma Tomeo-Reyes
I received the B.E. and M.E. degrees in Telecommunications Engineering from Universidad Carlos III de Madrid (UC3M), Spain, in 2006 and 2008, respectively. In 2010, I received the M.E. degree in Multimedia and Communications from UC3M, where I also worked as a R&D Engineer for more than three years. In 2015, I completed the Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering at Queensland University of Technology (QUT), Australia.
In 2017, I completed the Graduate Certificate in Academic Practice at QUT, and in 2020 I became a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.
My research over the course of my career encompasses studies related to signal and image processing, pattern recognition and machine learning. After working for more than three years as a R&D engineer at Universidad Carlos III de Madrid (UC3M), Spain, I completed a PhD in Electrical Engineering at Queensland University of Technology (QUT), Australia. My thesis focused on biometrics, and, more specifically, on the development of new techniques to increase the robustness of biometric systems against security threats.
I am very enthusiastic about teaching and supporting students. I consistently implement strategies to improve student engagement, collaboration and active learning, especially in large (500+) first-year courses. I am interested in engineering education research and I am especially interested in applying the findings of the educational research literature to the courses I design and run. I am a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.
