Hammad is a medical doctor and a public health graduate. He worked in the public health development sector in a developing country before moving to Australia. Before starting at the Kirby Institute, Hammad worked as part of the secretariat for the Reference Group to the UN on HIV and injecting drug use at the National Drug and Alcohol Research Centre. An ongoing interest in epidemiology of Sexually Transmissible Infections including HIV/AIDS, in general and at-risk populations; with a recent focus on Chlamydia and Genital Warts.
