Dr Claire Deakin
I am a Lecturer in Health Leadership and Management in the School of Population Health at the University of New South Wales, and an Embedded Academic in Western Sydney Local Health District (WSLHD). I have over ten years research experience as a translational researcher. I work with WSLHD senior executives, managers and frontline clinicians in WSLHD to generate evidence to develop and improve the quality and efficiency of healthcare.
I am developing expertise in health systems and health services research across in-hospital, community and District-wide services to leverage my quantitative expertise. I have expertise in cohort studies, advanced statistical and epidemiological methods, health data science, data linkage and genomics. I work with observational real-world datasets including electronic health records, linked administrative datasets and genomic data. My research, including over 40 peer-reviewed publications, has led to major advances in the understanding and treatment of rheumatic diseases, particularly rare diseases such as juvenile myositis.
