Ms Clair Hodge

General Counsel

In addition to her role as General Counsel, Clair is responsible for the University’s compliance framework.

Clair has over 25 years’ experience as a senior legal and compliance executive, responsible for providing strategic and commercially focused advice to boards and senior management. Clair’s legal experience spans private practice and in-house for both government and private organisations. Before joining UNSW, Clair held General Counsel roles for over 20 years, ranging from Group General Counsel for the Transport for NSW Cluster, Sydney and Abu Dhabi Airports, the New South Wales Police Force and as Global General Counsel for Campus Living Villages. Functional responsibilities have also included enterprise risk management, insurance, internal audit, contracts and governance.

Clair is a graduate of UNSW, the Australian Institute of Company Directors and the Australia and New Zealand School of Government Executive Fellows Program. She is also a Fellow of the Governance Institute, having been a board member and guest lecturer. Clair is also a graduate of the Chief Executive Women Leaders Program.

Having spent the early years of her career as an accountant at one of the Big Four Accounting firms, Clair holds a long-standing interest in legal operations and the use of legal technology and business practices to ensure the most efficient delivery of legal services.
