Mrs Chloe Cassidy

PhD Candidate
Chloe is an Education Forcussed lecturer in the School of Art and Design, teaching in integrated and collaborative design programs across Bachelor, Honours, and Masters degrees. Chloe's particular interest lies in fostering a transdisciplinary approach to integrate somaesthetic and imaginal sensitivities to advance the field of trauma-integrated design. Her profound understanding of the vital role of protective and compensatory experiences and how these may be cultivated in empathetic, creative, and meaning-making experiences underscores her commitment to socially engaged design and the way she approaches design education. Chloe's pedagogical approach is deeply rooted in fostering enriching learning environments and adopting a strengths-based approach to empower students to thrive in the dynamic design industry.
Chloe's commitment to education, research, and transformative design experiences extends beyond the classroom, with her creative outputs having been exhibited at Venice Biennale, Rosemount Australian Fashion Week (St Kilda Sea Baths, Melbourne), Hidden: Rookwood Sculpture Walk (Sydney), the UNICEF Designers Unite Against AIDS Blue String Campaign, in various solo and group shows in Sydney and Melbourne, and by the International Artists and Climate Change Organisation. Chloe's transdisciplinary expertise has also been deployed in collaborative roles demonstrating the transformative power of art and design, including: Sydney Children’s Hospital Foundation and Randwick Children’s Hospital School, Fairfield Multicultural Health Services together with STARRTS and Opera Australia Choir Projects, Exodus Foundation Kaleidoscope Art Program, and the Rowing Australia GrOW program in rehabilitation and juvenile justice facilities and in Sydney.
As a recipient of an Australian Government Research Training Program Scholarship and member of UNSW's Big Anxiety Research Centre (BARC), Chloe's forthcoming PhD in trauma-integrated design, reaffirms her dedication to advancing innovative research at the intersection of mental health and design.
