
Alison Avery
Alison Avery is a senior engagement and communication specialist with extensive experience in developing and executing strategic communication and brand stewardship plans for major projects in Universities, higher education and industry.
As Director of External Engagement (Faculties and Precincts) and Alumni Engagement since 2021, Alison has been responsible for designing, implementing and managing innovative complex strategies which have a positive impact in building a culture of collaboration across UNSW and promoting the university’s impact with external partners.
Alison’s appointment as Acting Vice-President for the Division of External Engagement follows her previous communication leadership positions at UNSW including, Head of Communication and Engagement for the UNSW Precincts team and Engagement lead for the UNSW3+ academic calendar project - one of the most significant and high-profile changes in UNSW history.
Throughout her eleven-year career at UNSW, Alison has built a reputation for excellence in driving change through creative problem solving and leading high performing teams.
Alison’s passion for writing and Higher Education is supported by her own degrees in Public Relations from the University of Canberra and a Masters in International Communication from Macquarie University.
