UNSW Sport and Arc Sport are proud to announce the next round of the Women’s Coaching and Officiating grants are open. An initiative announced in December 2022 at the inaugural Active Women Awards which provides a fund of $10,000 available for students and club members to apply up for to $500 to assist with gaining coaching and officiating qualifications.

The next round of applications will open on Tuesday, October 1, and will close Sunday, December 1. Applicants must be either UNSW students or UNSW Club Members. This round will include women in sports leadership and mentoring programs.

    • A total of $10,000 (excluding GST) is available for the calendar year 2024.
    • The maximum amount requested in one application is $500. There is no minimum.
    • An individual applicant may receive up to two grants per calendar year.
    • The total maximum grant funding allowed to be awarded to members from one club is $2000 per calendar year.
    • The 2024 grants are for coaching and officiating only.
    • Applications open Tuesday, October 1, and will close on Sunday, December 1.
    • Applicants will receive notice of the outcome within 4 weeks of the closing date
    • All applicants must identify as female
    • Be a current UNSW student or a current UNSW club member
    • In a leadership position or a volunteer within the club, or an aspiring leader to access either a leadership or mentoring grant. Please explain in your application how you and your club/organisation will benefit from you attending the leadership or mentoring program
    • You must be a current or potential coach/instructor/official in one of the following areas:
    • UNSW or Arc Sport program, including:
      • Inter-Varsity
      • Arc Sport Programs
      • She Can
      • UniSport Nationals
      • Social Sport
      • UNSW Sporting Club including affiliated junior clubs
      • Official sporting partner of UNSW Sport
    • A student Coaching/Instructing/Officiating at a school, community or youth organisation
    • A student Coaching/Instructing/Officiating at Clublinks UNSW
    • The Coaching & Officiating course/training must be an accredited course by either a National Sporting Organisation, State Sporting Organisation or equivalent sporting body.
    • The leadership or mentoring program/course does not have to be sport-specific, however if so, please explain how this course will benefit you and your sporting club/organsiation 
    • The grant is for the fee of the course/training and any registration costs or resources directly associated with the course/training
    • Within the application the applicant must demonstrate how they intend to use the qualification within the next 12 months
    • A supporting statement from the applicant’s club/society or equivalent body or supporting individual must be provided egarding the benefit of the coaching/officiating qualification or the leadership/mentoring training or course
    • The grant can not be used for travel, accommodation, equipment or clothing associated with the course/training
    • The funding is provided by UNSW Sport and will be administered by Arc Sport
    • The assessment panel will comprise of one member of UNSW Sport staff and one member of Arc Sport. All grants will be approved by the Head of UNSW Sport.
