SEACS Lab

Solutions for estuarine and coastal stressors

We're a lab of passionate marine ecologists within the Centre for Marine Science and Innovation, UNSW, conducting solutions-based research on human stressors in estuarine and coastal ecosystems. Headed by Associate Professor Mariana Mayer Pinto, we study a diverse range of human impacts, including urbanisation, light pollution and climate change in coastal ecosystems and potential solutions for these issues, such as eco-engineering and restoration of natural habitats.

Our research

Our research encompasses many different fields, including human impacts and multiple stressors, as well as solutions and management. Learn more about our research areas here.

Our team

SEACS lab is headed by Associate Professor Mariana Mayer Pinto, and includes eight UNSW PhD candidates, as well as three visiting PhD candidates from local and international institutions. Learn more about our staff and students here.
