Top performing Mathematics and Statistics students honoured with awards for excellence

The School of Mathematics and Statistics held its annual prize-giving ceremony on Tuesday 4 March to celebrate exceptional undergraduate and honours students from the 2024 prize round.
The ceremony recognised students across various categories including best performance by year, best in discipline, high achievers in the 2024 Simon Marais Mathematics Competition, and recipients of industry-sponsored awards.
Several students received multiple honours, with Mayuri Aithala standing out by earning an impressive seven prizes.
Head of School Professor Andrew Francis conferred certificates to the students, alongside representatives from Optiver and IMC Financial Markets who presented prizes sponsored by their organisations. Following the ceremony, recipients enjoyed a morning tea with members of the School.
