The grants support innovative and inclusive educational practices and applications are open until Monday 1 May.
This week, the Division of Equity Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) launches a reimagined faculty grant scheme. Grants of $20,000, $15,000 and $10,000 are available for initiatives that improve opportunities, support and outcomes for students from backgrounds traditionally underrepresented at UNSW, including students from low-SES backgrounds. The EDI Faculty Grants will support the Gateway Equity target, which is 25% per cent of commencing domestic undergraduate students will be from a low-SES and/or socio-educationally disadvantaged school (Gateway partner school) by 2027.
About the grants
These grants will be funded by Access, Equity and Inclusion within EDI. Successful projects will support:
- teaching and learning initiatives that intend to positively impact students’ university experience, engagement, and success
- projects that will build the University’s research agenda on social inclusion/exclusion and link to widening participation or inclusive learning and teaching objectives or other related objectives (that may be documented in faculty EDI plans)
- the career transition of students from underrepresented backgrounds to support the Gateway Equity target into employment or further study
- existing programs/units of study as well as new projects/activities with potential for expansion and implementation across schools or faculties.
