Current PhD student, Binod Rayamajhee has been awarded the competitive “Joe and Janet Barr Early Career Cornea and Contact Lens Research Award – 2022” from the American Academy of Optometry Foundation.

(https://aaopt.org/awards-grants/graduate-students/#barr) for his translational research on the devastating eye infection, Acanthamoeba keratitis (AK). The Barr award consists of a USD$2,000 grant to support Binod’s research and a USD$750 travel fellowship to attend the American Academy of Optometry Annual Meeting, scheduled for 26-29 October 2022 in San Diego, California.

“The Joe and Janet Barr Early Career Cornea and Contact Lens Research Award was established in 2012. This is awarded to a postgraduate student who demonstrates exceptional contributions to vision science and contact lens research”.
