SPRC researcher receives Paul De Vroede PhD award

Dr Theun Pieter van Tienoven, a postdoctoral research fellow at the Social Policy Research Centre (SPRC), has been selected for the prestigious Paul De Vroede Award 2019 for his doctoral thesis, Daily Routines. Studying temporal structures and the organization of everyday life.
The Paul De Vroede Award, which will be given out on Friday 22 November in Belgium, is presented biannually by the Scientific Research Support Fund of the Vrije Universiteit Brussel to PhDs in the humanities that make a demonstrable contribution to society.
Dr Tienoven's doctoral thesis, which was successfully defended in 2017, takes a closer look at the apparent paradox of daily routine, and the association between less daily routine and higher psychological distress and social-emotional dysfunction.
Dr Tienoven joined SPRC in August 2017, working alongside Professor Lyn Craig on research involving cross-national comparisons of time-use surveys on topics like gender division of labour, gender equality, childcare, leisure, informal care, life balance, time pressure, well-being, and the family.
