Over the last few weeks, I have seen so many student models being constructed in the corridors or maneuvered into the lifts. I am sure many are looking forward to the mid-term break. For our academics, it has also been a busy and productive start to the year. Here are some of this week's highlights and new opportunities.
BE in the Media: "The most sustainable mobile phone is actually the phone you already own! This is because manufacturing a phone has far more environmental impact than using it." writes Dr Miles Park in his latest article in The Conversation.
BE Academic Recruitment: Do you know talented academics keen to join us at UNSW? We are growing and we need more thinkers, teachers, researchers, innovators and professors of practice to work with us to achieve our Faculty vision and the UNSW 2025 Strategy. We are undertaking an ambitious recruitment campaign so please share these opportunities with your industry, academic and research networks. We can look forward to welcoming many new colleagues to BE in 2018. Find out more.
BE Student achievements: On Monday, I had the pleasure of hosting the Dean's Merit list reception to recognise and celebrate the academic excellence of our high achieving undergraduate and postgraduate students. I was impressed by the number of high achievers and the turn out of friends and family supporters on the day. Congratulations all. Find out more.
BE HDR opportunities: Landcom and UNSW Built Environment have come together to offer two top-up research scholarships tailored to support candidates for the MPhil Degree in UNSW Built Environment. Find out more.

This month’s highlights include the launches of the Australian Human Rights Institute and the UNSW Entrepreneurship Founders Program, focused on innovative start-ups; and the extensive renovation of the iconic Roundhouse is also showcased. Scientia PhD Scholarship opportunities: Expressions of Interest are now open for supervisors and project nominations for 2019 round. The SHARPest Committee is seeking high-quality projects and supervisory teams across all faculties and disciplines. Find out more.
Student Exchange Opportunity: I know how many of our students benefit from international exchange, so here is an opportunity worth checking out. UNSW is calling for expressions of interest from students wishing to go on Student Exchange between 1 January 2019 and 31 December 2019. The New Colombo Plan Scholarship Program provides assistance for Australian undergraduates to undertake up to one academic year of study overseas. Find out more.
Until next week,
All the best,
