We invite you to come and explore our art and design studios, workshops, makerspaces, exhibition spaces, photography, film and media production facilities, computer labs, robotics and 3D imaging labs, and much more. 

Our team of dedicated educators, renowned artists, leading designers and expert technical staff will be ready to meet you to discuss your creative aspirations and our degree programs, opportunities for professional work experience and more than 200 international exchanges we offer across more than 40 countries around the world. 

This is the perfect day to learn about how we develop your talents and support you to achieve your dreams.

Say ‘Hello’ at the Open Day Welcome Desk and get your Grab Bag and Information Pack. Everything you need to know about our staff, campus, facilities, degrees and exhibition spaces is included in this package of materials. (Welcome Desk located at the top of the entrance stairwell).

3. Consider Your Ideas, Dreams, Ambitions and Aspirations

Take a moment to orientate yourself in our Courtyard – the heart of our creative campus – which will be filled with a festive marquee. From this campus midpoint, you can decide what you would like to see and do during your visit.

Would you like speak with some of our design, media or fine art lecturers? Would you enjoy meeting some current students working in their studio spaces? Do you want to see inside our media and technology labs? Would a tour help you consider your options? Take your time to decide. We are here all day to help you. (Main courtyard)

Talk to our renowned and committed teaching staff about the degree program that best suits you. Our lecturers are not only dedicated teachers – here to help you gain the necessary conceptual and technical skills required to help you succeed in your chosen field – they are also award-winning creative practitioners who can help you understand how to ‘make-it’ in the dynamic creative economies of art, design, and media. 5. Boost Your ATAR Workshops

Find out about how to boost your ATAR in our single degree programs by up to 10 points through our Portfolio Entry scheme. Workshops will be hosted throughout the day to explain the simple process and show you how you can make the best possible portfolio. (Main lecture theatre, EGO2)

Every studio degree program at UNSW Art & Design entails a Professional Experience Program (PEP) as part of your final year of study.

At UNSW Art & Design we understand that most employers seek graduates who are ‘career-ready’. We aim to make sure you are the best prepared graduate by providing you with the highest quality degree program coupled with real hands-on professional work place experience.

8. Check out our Art, Design, Media Production facilities and resources

Every artist, designer and creative media producer requires creative resources, facilities and environment to make their work. UNSW Art & Design's Paddington Campus incorporates the most comprehensive range art, design, and multi-media studio spaces for all levels of study. As you advance through your degree, students are provided with dedicated spaces and access to industry standard technology to create supported by Australia's most diverse and dynamic creative faculty.

Studios are located across the campus – for example C, D, F, G Blocks are home to Ceramics, Photography, Drawing, Painting, Sculpture, Sound, Animation, Jewellery, Spatial Design, Graphics, Textiles, Printmaking. 

You are welcome to explore and speak with staff and current students. 

If you are interested in a more structured view of our campus, join a Campus Tour. These Tours will run throughout the day. Meet your staff and our student guide in the Central Courtyard in front of C Block.

9. Meet our Expert Technical Staff

Our technical staff are second-to-none. They work across our makerspaces, media production spaces and technologies, AV, IT, specialist small and large scale tools and equipment for metal, wood, 3D printing and laser etching,

Our technical experts are able to advise, support and train you to safely use of our state of the art tools and equipment to help you realise all your creative projects. 

On Open Day, check our Toolroom and Technical Resource Centre to see some of the more than 20,000 tools and items of equipment that can be used and loaned to our students. Our IT Centre is able to showcase our media and computer labs which include creative communications, film and television industry standard professional standard software. 10. Visit our World-class Exhibitions

UNSW Art & Design includes an unmatched network of student-led and museum standard galleries and exhibition spaces. Across the year our campus we present more than 80 exhibitions to the public, contemporary art and design industry and university audiences.

On Open Day you have a chance to experience nuemrous exhibitions, including international award-winning British filmmaker and artist John Akomfrah's large-scale installation Vertigo Sea, which forms part of the Troubled Waters project in UNSW Galleries.

Also don’t miss the range of professionally produced rugs on display – designed by current UNSW Art & Design students and manufactured by Designer Rugs Sydney – exhibited in one of our student-led galleries, ADspace. (Ground Floor E Block)
