UNSW Art & Design alumni Soda_Jerk is presenting a series of exhibitions, lecture performances and screenings as part of 5x5: (home)land.
5x5 is a project of the DC Commission on the Arts & Humanities and is a district-wide program of contemporary, temporary public art that explores new perspectives on the city through the lens of five curators. Justine Topfer is the curator of (home)land, which will see Soda_Jerk present works at the National Museum of Women in the Arts and the National Gallery of Art.
Soda_Jerk’s one-night video lecture performance exploring the intersections of death and cinema, The Carousel, will be presented at The National Museum of Women in the Arts, which will also screen After the Rainbow.
The National Gallery of Art will host a screening and discussion of The Afrofuturisms of Astro Black plus a screening of Hollywood Burn.
