Interior Architecture graduand Luis Gito has been awarded First Prize in the Interior Design category of the Design Institute of Australia (NSW/ACT chapter) 2014 Graduate of the Year Awards.

Submissions from UNSW, UTS, University of Canberra, UWS, Enmore TAFE and private design colleges such as Whitehouse were submitted to DIA and were then subject to a two-stage judging process by a panel of nine judges selected from the full range of design disciplines.

This is the latest award for Luis, who is also the winner of the University Medal and Taste Living Year 4 Award, which includes a trip to the Milan Furniture Fair.

Arthur Karpathios, from Living Social, who met with Luis last week, says Luis’ approach was risky & very edgy.

“This was a huge point of difference to other mainstream designs presented by other finalists. Luis was (also) able to articulate a story which his peace represented.”
