School of Biotech & Biomolecular Science

Banjo is a new honours student in the White lab who is majoring in Biotechnology with a minor in Chemistry. His involvement in the White lab was motivated by the rise of bioinformatics throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. He looks forward to completing a dual honours project with the lab. The first project involves the discovery of novel viruses with a focus on retroviruses in amphibians to bridge the knowledge gap between aquatic and terrestrial viruses.

In addition, he will be monitoring circulating adenovirus species in NSW to develop a detection method for the adenovirus strain associated with the recent outbreaks of hepatitis in children.
