About the work

I used tally marks to count and record moments of anxiety. This allowed me to shift into the creative zone that temporarily eases my anxiety. Four layers of coloured ink represent the incessant ruminations and never-ending spikes of terror that underpinned my recent diagnosis of PTSD, an "upgrade" from the generalised anxiety that I had been living with for more than five years. This work is a preparatory drawing for a larger endurance work called "One Million Marks of Anxiety" which will take more than 120 hours spread across many weeks to complete.
