Holding onto Hope
Holding onto Hope
My piece is a self-portrait I created during lockdown, a time when I felt incredibly lost and isolated. Art has always been a form of self-care for me, where I’m able to channel my emotions into an escape and offers an opportunity for introspection through the therapeutic act of drawing. It is through this isolation and reflection that made me realise the importance of reaching out; of connecting with friends, family, and community. As such, I wanted to convey that oppressive and all-encompassing sense of depression one can sometimes feel, and to highlight that all we can really do is to reach out and grasp onto that hope as firmly as we can.
