Find solutions to the world’s greatest challenges in Engineering & Technology.
Find the right course for your future
At UNSW Canberra’s School of Engineering & Technology (SET), it's our mission to educate and empower future generations to lead Australia’s defence and technology future. We’re proud to cultivate a community of engineers who'll make our country stronger through innovation, constantly improving our educational environment, taking advantage of our unique situation, relationships and student body.
Our goal is to encourage people from all backgrounds to pursue a career in engineering, preparing Australia to meet the challenges of the future. Whether you want to level-up for career progression or pursue cutting-edge research, we offer a wide range of undergraduate degrees, a variety of specialisations, and dedicated postgraduate degrees – so finding a course that’s just right doesn’t have to be hard.
Diverse ways of learning
We know that people have different ways of learning. To support our diverse community of students, we teach in teams of two or more, utilising a range of teaching methods.
This means we can work together to support student learning needs and maximise learning opportunities and allows for a wider scope of perspectives, ideas and concepts.
At the postgraduate level, we pair academic staff with industry professionals, giving postgraduate students the benefit of insights from an industry and academic point of view.
Initiatives to support women in engineering
In line with our commitment to diversity and inclusion, we’ve developed several initiatives to strengthen the representation of women within the engineering industry:
Over the last three years we’ve established female-only recruiting pathways to increase the number of women on our academic staff.
We’ve established the Young Women in Engineering (YoWIE) program — a 3-day school holiday workshop for high school girls in Years 9 -12.
We support the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) Young Women in Engineering Network, which provides an ongoing point of contact for girls in the ACT who are interested in engineering.
Commitment to continual improvement
We’re leading the way in course quality with an established Quality Teaching Framework and Teaching Support Team.
The Quality Teaching Framework provides a guideline for us to refine our course content, helping our teaching team understand what it means to teach well. Our Teaching Support Team reflects our ongoing commitment to teamwork.
By working with our academics and continuously reflecting on the quality of our courses, we consistently refine course content, engagement initiatives and assessment material to make sure the quality of our teaching is where it needs to be.
Future focused
As the world we live in changes, how and what we teach is continuously being reshaped.
We seek out new and interesting ways to make sure our courses are relevant and progressive, incorporating cutting-edge research themes, such as aerospace engineering and artificial intelligence, into undergraduate and postgraduate content.
Our collaborative, flexible and relevant approach ensures you’ll develop the skills and capabilities to thrive in and contribute to a rapidly changing and interconnected world.
