Founder & Principal Psychologist - MaxiMinds

Master of Psychology (Organisational) - UNSW

A bit about me:

As a psychologist and tutor of students for over 15 years, I am passionate about identifying and amplifying the strengths and wellbeing of young people. My love for evidence-based research, human-centred design and health psychology means that I can help young people in a productive, personalised and positive way. Outside of work, I enjoy travelling with my partner, socialising with my family and friends, and spending time with my sausage dog, Lola!

Quick-fire Q&A:

Do you have a favourite quote or mantra?

After the rain comes the rainbow 🌈

What are you currently reading?

My favourite podcast is Second Life with Hillary Kerr

What recent habit(s) has improved or changed your life?

Timeboxing, daily Pilates & designated AFDs!

What was your most memorable experience from your time at UNSW?

Doing psychometric assessments on myself (very meta 🤪) to learn about my strengths and development areas – self-awareness is key!

How did your time at UNSW help shape who you are today?

Receiving my Master of Psychology at UNSW allowed me to be a Registered Psychologist and help young people with their mental health, which was particularly needed during and post Covid-19.

What do you enjoy most about working in your profession?

Clients telling me that I saved their life.

What advice would you give a student approaching the end of their degree?

Gain as much self-awareness as possible to learn about your key strengths, interests and value you can bring to a role or society. Then adopt a growth mindset to overcome any challenges that will inevitably come your way!

Why is science important?

Science is evidence. Evidence is credibility. Credibility is invaluable in a world of mass media, information overload and #fakenews!
