Learning support

The Academic Language and Learning (ALL) unit aims to enhance the student learning experience by working with students to improve language and learning capabilities at any stage of their studies, through one-to-one consultations, workshops and online learning resources.

UNSW Canberra enrolled students can book virtual or face to face consultations online using the Student Hub, opens in a new window to help with:

• Commencing your tertiary studies
• Writing better essays and reports
• Building a sound academic argument
• Writing a clearer thesis chapter or journal paper
• Preparing for an oral presentation
• Gaining more from your reading
• Learning how to reference effectively and accurately
• Studying smarter

On the Student Hub, students can also find information on upcoming study workshops and events and an extensive range of resources to help with:

• Referencing
• Plagiarism
• Writing skills
• Critical thinking
• Reading and note-taking
• Exam preparation
• Writing cheat-sheets and more.

LTG has dedicated Mathematics and Physics Support Coordinators who improve the progression, retention and learning experience of students by providing one on one consultations or group classes to assist students with all aspects of pre- and first-year university Mathematics and Physics.

Support classes are also held during each semester for:

• Mathematics 1A/1B
• Engineering Mathematics 1A/1B and 2A/2B
• Physics 1A/1B
• Engineering Physics 1A/1B

UNSW Canberra provides free mental health and wellbeing support for all UNSW Canberra students.

The Psychology and Wellness Team are available Monday-Friday to provide confidential support both online and face to face. For more information, visit our student support services page.

As part of LTG, Student Wellbeing Advisors offer specialised support to postgraduate students to help them develop skills to navigate and succeed in their studies at UNSW Canberra.​​​​​​​
