How can we help
UNSW Tax & Business Advisory Clinic provides free, independent and confidential tax advice and business support, by appointment only. We have outreach locations across Sydney and also offer phone appointments depending on your circumstances and location. Our advice and representation services are often in high demand, so we give priority to people who need our help the most.
Am I eligible?
Are you:
✔ receiving payment demands or reminders to lodge overdue returns from the ATO? OR
multiple years (2 years or more) behind on business activity statements?
AND
✔ Did you earn less than $40,000 in the past 12 months?
AND
✔ Are you unable to pay or access your own tax agent?
If you answered yes to these questions, you may be eligible for our service. Please complete this EOI and our team will be in contact with you shortly
Help recovering from natural disasters and COVID-19
UNSW Tax & Business Advisory Clinic is ready to help people affected by natural disasters (drought, bushfires, floods) and the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. If you have been significantly affected by any of these events and need tax advice, please get in contact with us.
Book an appointment
Step 1: Check if you are eligible. If you are eligible, send us your Online Application Form.
Step 2: We will contact you to discuss your application and book your appointment.
Step 3: Attend your Advice Session. Please remember to bring all relevant documents with you to your appointment. As a teaching clinic, you will first talk to a student volunteer about your personal details and issues. The student will then consult with the supervising agent, and then return with the agent who will give you advice.

The UNSW Tax & Business Advisory Clinic is run by a registered tax agent, who provides tax agent services and supervises UNSW students on a placement with the Clinic. Students on a placement with the Clinic are not authorised to give advice, or to provide a tax agent service. The only person at the Clinic who is authorised to give advice (as part of a tax agent service) is the Clinic Supervisor, who is a registered tax agent. The Supervisor is not authorised to, and will not, provide legal advice.
