This seminar will present compelling evidence that an increase in overall spending on electronic gaming machines is associated with a rise in both property and violent crimes, as well as gambling expenditure.

The study employs panel autoregressive distributed lag modelling to examine the short—and long-run relationship between monthly gross electronic gaming expenditure in each Local Government Area and the recorded rate of property and violent crime in the same and subsequent months.
