Piyush Kumar Banerjee
Piyush Kumar Banerjee is a PhD student in History at UNSW Canberra. He has been awarded the UNSW University International Postgraduate Award to pursue PhD in Australia. His research topic is “A collaboration for genocide: The army and local allies as agents of the ‘final solution’ in East Pakistan”. He wishes to examine the collaboration between the local perpetrators and the army behind the planning and execution of the 1971 genocide in East Pakistan. His research supervisors are Dr. Deborah Mayersen and Dr. Rhys Crawley. He is also the recipient of the Erasmus+ study abroad scholarship to study at the Jagiellonian University in Krakow, Poland and the prestigious Azrieli scholarship to study Master’s in Israel. He holds a MA in Holocaust Studies from the University of Haifa. He also holds a BA in English from the Vinoba Bhave University and a MA in English from Amity University Kolkata. Before coming to Australia, Piyush worked as an English and Soft Skills Teacher. He has published research articles, book chapters and book reviews in peer-reviewed journals and books.
